The moment in time.

“Hi.”

I’m not the type to easily talk to random people. In fact, you can call me a shy guy. I had promised myself to open up this year. To smile more and try to make friends in this new town. It was December and to tell you that it was going well would be a lie. So I started to say ‘hi’ here and there and the reception was nice so when my ‘hi’ went unanswered by her, I wasn’t bothered. Out of five only one went unanswered, that is a win in my book!

My quest led me to sign up to the gym. I mean, that is the best place for an introvert like me can tap into their extroverted path, no? So there I was at the squatting rack when she entered. Yes, her! The streak breaker, the run stopper. The ‘hi’ unanswered!

‘What is she doing here?’

‘Same as you dummy!’

The battle in my mind was unending and couldn’t tell you which side was winning. Every stride she took was capturing and she commanded the air around her. She was captivating. And all I wanted was to just bask in her presence but I couldn’t help but stare into space.

“Honey, I’m leaving for work.”

“Hold on, I packed you a snack.”

She came down the stairs in a cute short skirt and her walk had never changed. Three teenage boys later she still looked as good as I first saw her. Her lipstick was out of place and her hair messy that I couldn’t help but laugh as I stretched out my hand to take the brown bag.

“Mind sharing the joke?”

“Huh?!”

She was standing right infront of me shaking my hand. I had zoned out for a moment there and didn’t realized that the brown bag was her hand. I shaked off the fantasy and stuck to the reality.

“Hi”, she said with a smile on her face.

“Hi,” I said. ‘With the intention of making you my wife.’
